Space Cubes
Welcome to a new age of exploration

Mission Statement
Purpose: In the next few decades, NASA will take steps toward establishing a sustainable human presence beyond Earth, not just to visit but to stay. NASA researchers have a lot of problems to work through if they want astronauts to one day set foot on Mars.
Signficance: Mars is of particular interest because it appears to have had a climate that has changed dramatically throughout its history and scientists believe that the planet once or still may possess water. Mars today is a cold and dry place with temperatures averaging around -55 degrees C (-67 degrees F), and the atmospheric pressure at the surface only being 600 Pascals.
Implementation: By creating self-assembling cubes, humans will have a shelter that would protect them from the harmful environment. These cubes would be on Mars prior to the arrival of the first astronauts as they will need shelter as soon as they take their first step. This would eliminate the labor and time for astronauts to settle in, accelerating their research and advancements in learning more about the red planet.
